Song Notes
This song is a collaboration between me and Ivan. I wrote a set of lyrics which was meant to be a sort of a lullaby song for a small child. However, I had no inspiration for the melody so I asked around among my Songcraft buddies to see if anyone has any ideas for the lyrics. As it happens, Ivan was looking for a set of lyrics for a tune he had in mind, and thus a collaboration was born! Read his account of his here.

As I told Ivan, his version of the song is interesting as the song now veers away from a sort of lullaby and instead became a philosophical take on life. The literal pirates and vanilla skies are now metaphorical. Made me see the song in a whole new light!

I was messing about with my guitar and amusing myself with my terrible impressions of Elvis. Then I thought it would be cool to write a song and sing it in an Elvis voice. So I wrote a song in 10 mins and recorded it in 5 mins and ta da! haha.. Now, if only I could get Elvis to sing all of my songs =).

Mood-ing (Instrumental)

I borrowed my friend's Mac laptop for an hour today and fiddled about with the loops in GarageBand, and this is what I produced! heh.. Not bad I think for a total GarageBand noob like me. I call this song mood-ing because it sorts of take the listener on a musical journey by exposing the listener to the different moods that are produced by the music. At the end of the song, the string instruments make an appearance to nicely tie the whole thing up, because it was the strings who got the whole thing going in the first place.

Celebration : For Strings (Instrumental)

I wrote this piece some time back. I kinda like it, because it sounds 'classical' but at the same time it appeals to my pop sensibilities (i.e. not boring! haha..). I'd put on my headphones, lay back and pretend that an orchestra is playing this piece in a fabulous concert hall. Aaah, bliss!!
