Lynching in America occurred a mere 100 years ago, during the time of your great-grandparents.
Here Today
Well I was lying in my bed
And these thoughts came to my head
I'm not trying to impress
Sometimes my mind is just a mess
But have you ever wondered
About those little things in life
Like where would you be today
If you were born as someone else?
What if I was born in Bosnia or Calcutta
Would I be here today? Would I be here today?
Would I even see my parents before they pass away?
Would they be here today? Would they be here today?
If I was born in another different time and different place
Would I choose the same religion even though I'm a different race?
If I was a little girl instead of a little boy
Would I be here today? Would I be here today?
Think about it
Would I be here today?
If I was blind, if I was deaf, if I was somebody else
Would I be here today? Would I be here today?
If I was a black man in old America
Would I be here today? Would I be here today?
If I was a Jew in World War Two
Would I be here today? Would I be here today?
A billion different lives
A billion different souls
We are living our lives
Trying to reach our goals
But spare a moment to think
About these little things in life
Would you have made the same decisions?
Would you have the very same intentions?
Would you be here today?
Here Today
