Film Review (Earthlings)

I was shown this documentary during one of my lectures in school. Wawaweewah... Was I shocked at the cruelty we humans inflict on animals. This documentary shows the inhumane treatments humans inflict on animals, just because we assume that they are 'inferior' to us and that they are on Earth merely to cater to the whims and demands of human beings. The acts shown on the film are atrocious and heartbreaking to say the least. The fact is... animals don't need humans. We are the ones that need them. But yet, we treat them like shit! Or worse than that.

As often as Herman had witnessed the slaughter of animals and fish, he always had the same thought: In their behaviour towards creatures, all men were Nazis. The smugness with which man could do with other species as he pleased exemplify the most extreme racist theories - the principle that might is right.

Isaac Bashevis Singer (1904 - 1991)
Nobel Prize Winner

This is a free documentary open to public access, so it's widely available on the internet. I highly recommend you to watch it and discover for yourself what really goes on in human being's treatments towards animals. The next time you look at your pet, consume your meat, wear your clothes made from animals, visit the circus/zoo, marvel at 'scientific' research which uses animals... think of this documentary.

Of course, with any film, this documentary is heavily biased and does not show people treating animals well. But that's not the point of this film ain't it?

Warning: The images in the documentary are highly graphic. The cruelty of mankind is unbelievable =(.
